The INQYR Interdisciplinary Education Symposium (INQYRIES) was a four-day conference in Toronto from September 22nd-25th, 2022.

INQYRIES convened INQYR faculty, graduates from the second cohort of INQYR’s International Student Training Network (ISTN), representatives from non-profit organizations, and LGBTQ+ youth for a program of workshops, panels, keynotes, and planning sessions designed to develop knowledge mobilization skills by drawing from diverse interdisciplinary perspectives.

The trainings shared practical insights into:

  • How to use design thinking to develop effective community-based interventions for LGBTQ+ youth

  • How to advocate for LGBTQ+ youth through research and knowledge mobilization as an early career researcher

  • How to design infographics for effective LGBTQ+ youth knowledge mobilization

  • How to store and organize data in secure and sharable ways to enhance research capacity and ethical rigor when studying LGBTQ+ youth populations

INQYRIES was hosted by the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto and supported by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Connection Grant (#611-2022-0097) and a UofT Global International Doctoral Cluster Grant.
