INQYR Symposium: Advancing LGBTQ+ Health, Well-Being, & Resilience

May 22, 2025

The Exchange - University of Birmingham,
3 Centenary Square, Birmingham B1 2DR

LGBTQ+ individuals navigate complex social, cultural, and structural environments that influence their health and well-being. Despite significant discrimination and systemic barriers, LGBTQ+ people demonstrate remarkable strength and adaptability. This international symposium explores the diverse factors shaping the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals, focusing on health, social care, and well-being across the lifespan.

The hybrid event will examine biopsychosocial dimensions, including physical, mental, and social health, while addressing the role of structural systems, community resources, and innovative methodologies in promoting equity and inclusion. Alongside these themes, the symposium aims to foster knowledge exchange across disciplines, career paths, and career stages. We encourage participation from community members and third-sector organisations to enrich discussions with lived experiences and practical insights.

By providing a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration, this symposium seeks to collectively advance understanding and champion the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals worldwide. Co-hosted by the International Partnership for Queer Youth Resilience (INQYR) UK regional network & The University of Birmingham, it invites diverse voices to shape future research, practice, and advocacy.
