Call for Proposals: The 13th Annual LGBTQ Research Symposium

The LGBTQ Research Symposium is currently accepting proposals for their 13th annual symposium, held virtually on Thursday, September 25th and Friday, September 26th. Please see below for more information and visit

Theme: Queer and Trans Futures
In a sociopolitical climate where queer and trans communities are increasingly marginalized and victimized, we center a commitment toward our collective futures. We recognize a need to investigate and interrogate our current realities, challenge oppressive systems, and create communities to survive and thrive. We also know that we can do so while looking toward a future where queer and trans people are liberated. While we invite presentation proposals within this theme, we welcome presentation proposals on a range of topics and within myriad disciplines.

Keynote Address: Queer Gerontology: Principles for Advancing Rigor and Justice Vanessa Fabbre, PhD, LCSW (she/her) is Associate Professor at The Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Fabbre's research focuses on queer and trans aging through the use of interpretive methodology and her newest project outlines principles for the practice of queer gerontology. Dr. Fabbre is also a dedicated teacher and seeks to promote critical and anti-oppressive approaches to social work with her students.

Invited Speakers:
Sarah Jen, PhD, MSW (she/her): Imagining Queer Futures
Community/Activist Speaker: TBD
