Join us for an engaging conversation addressing the rise in anti-trans backlash across Canada and exploring various forms of interventions and resistance that center 2SLGBTQ+ young people. We are thrilled to welcome LJ Slovin (they/them), author of Fierce, Fabulous, and Fluid: How Trans High School Students Work at Gender Nonconformity, who will share insights from their work and lead a discussion on navigating and resisting these societal challenges.

Event Details

Speaker: LJ Slovin is the author of Fierce, fabulous, and fluid: How trans high school students work at gender nonconformity (NYU Press, 2024).  Their work has also been published in Curriculum Inquiry, Journal of LGBT Youth, Sex Education, and RERM. They are currently a Martha LA McCain Postdoctoral Fellow at the Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto. In January, Slovin will join the University of Victoria’s Child and Youth Care program as an Assistant Professor.
